Aquaculture Research Department

Aquaculture Research Department is conducting researches on the latest aquaculture technologies, disease prevention and control for higher productivity and stronger global competitiveness. It also studies on application of the advanced tools of biotechnology to develop improved species, manages genetic resources of marine organisms and researches on ecological safety of LMOs.

Aquatic Animal Disease Control Center
  • Management of notifiable diseases
  •  The NIFS has designated 20 diseases that cause serious damage to the aquaculture facillties as "notifiable diseases." and controls the spread of such diseases by means of monitoring, field surveillance, and disease controls, as well as preventing the introduction and spread of overseas aquatic infectious diseases in Korea.
