On November 5, the Tidal Flat Research Center of NIFS hosted a ceremony to celebrate the completion of new office building of the center relocated in 405 Gangbyeon-ro, Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do.

As an integrated control tower in Korea's tidal flat research, the research center is expected to play a pivotal role in reinvigorating tidal flat fisheries.

NIFS participated in the 2024 Sea Farm Show held in Seoul aT Center (Nov.1~3), and presenting its latest research achievements including the new aquaculture species tolerant to high water temperature, etc.

On October 31, NIFS launched the "task force (TF) team for smart aquaculture technical support" aiming the sustainable establishment and smooth operation of smart farms and smart aquaculture cluster.

On October 17, NIFS launched the "task force (TF) team for the stabilization of sea squirt farming" in preparation for the measure to mitigate high water temperature-caused damage to sea squirt, followed by the kick-off meeting.

On September 25, the Research and Development Planning Division of NIFS signed MOU with the G-LAMP project team of Busan National University, to establish the system for cooperation and joint research on climate change, marine environment, fisheries bio-resources, etc.

On September 12th, NIFS held a future strategy symposium for the future of inland aquaculture industry. In the symposium, the participants exchanged thoughts and opinions through subject presentations and discussions to explore the new direction of inland aquaculture development.

On September 10th, NIFS held a forum to communicate with the seven heads of Suhyup Aquaculture Associations. In the forum, they agreed to actively apply the agendas presented to the research in order to tackle the pending issues at aquaculture sites,

On September 2, NIFS had a meeting to resolve to put Safety and Health into practice with reports and education relevant after giving assignment letters to the supervisors in the second half of 2024.

NIFS will redouble its efforts to foster a sense of safety and expand the organizational culture for safety.

On August 21, Minister Kang, Do-hyung of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries visited NIFS to inspect the current state of fisheries disasters including high water temperature, harmful algal bloom, jellyfish, etc. The Minister also encouraged the members of disaster control unit and appreciated for their hard work to minimize fisheries damage.

On August 19, the President of NIFS (Mr. Choi, Yong-seok) visited the jellyfish collection sites in Pohang. The president inspected the sites and heard the difficulties in the field.
