National Institute of Fisheries Science
KODC is the only authorized national oceanographic data center in Korea. The center was established in 1974, and the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) has been operating the center since 1981.
History
1920’s
- May. 1921 Establishment of the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS)
1970’s
- Mar. 1974 KODC was registered as the National Oceanographic Data Center of Korea with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC/UNESCO).
1980’s
- Jan. 1981 NIFS officially started to operate the KODC
Present’s
- 1981 ~ present KODC dedicates to the acquisition, processing, quality control, archiving, analysis, and dissemination of oceanographic data and information on domestic and international basis
