NIFS announced that it is going to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 5 (Tue.) to celebrate the completion of new office building of the Tidal Flat Research Center (relocated in 405 Gangbyeon-ro, Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do, ROK/ 1 main building & 1 research building, gross floor area 3,424.95㎡). The relocation aims to strengthen the performance of tidal flat research and improve the reseach infrastructue. Serving as an integrated control tower in Korea's tidal flat research, the research center has been standing out with its important role, and is expected to conduct research on various subjects including the conservation and restoration of tidal flat, raising awareness of the importance of ecosystem, expanding the scale of tidal flat fisheries, international cooperation, etc. Around 100 people - including local member of the National Assembly, local governments, research institutes, and fishermen - will attend the ceremony to celebrate the opening, and the event will be proceeded in the following order: progress report, contributor awards, vision introduction as well as development direction, new office building inspection, etc. The President of NIFS said, "Taking this new opening, NIFS will further strengthen its political support for the development of sustainable fisheries, tidal flat conservation, and national tidal flat research. We also will do our utmost to play a pivotal role in reinvigorating tidal flat fisheries by developing new species for increased earnings to fishermen against climate change." |
