On April 29th, NIFS held a meeting with the heads of seven culture fisheries cooperatives across the country, sharing the progress of key tasks from last meeting and discussing field-oriented research projects reflecting the needs of the aquaculture industry.
NIFS held Research Achievements Sharing Event 2026 -an event to share the achievements of R&Ds on marine and fisheries 2026-, in which they resolved to expand the platform for research cooperation among relevant agencies or organizations.

On March 24th, NIFS hosted a meeting to strengthen the competitiveness of Starry flounder (Platichthys stellatus) aquaculture at the fishing village support center of Gyeongbuk Fishing Technology Institute in Pohang, having meaningful time to discuss and explore the measures for how to enhance the competitiveness.
On March 17th, President Kwon Soon-wook of NIFS conducted on-site inspections in preparation for FDA’s sanitary survey of the designated sea areas, where shellfish intended for export to the United States are produced, on March 23rd - April 6th.
Kwon Soon-wook inaugurated as the 43rd president of NIFS on Monday, February 9, 2026. As the first move of his official task after the inauguration, President Kwon visited the Memorial Cenotaph for the Dead Crewmen in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.

On January 14, a consultative meeting was held at NIFS headquarters to connect field-research-policy triangle for revitalizing the distant-water fisheries. In the meeting, the participants had open discussions on measures to strengthen the distant-water fishing sector.
