On July 25, the National Institue of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST) signed a MOU on the development of ocean science and technology, and marine industry. In the MOU ceremony, the two institutes agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in the research to solve pending issues.
On July 24, NIFS had an on-site meeting with the members of the Korea Trout Farmer's Association to discuss the current issues and difficulties in raising trouts and explore the solutions.
NIFS held the symposium on strategies for the future of East Coast fishery industry in Gangneung on July 23. In the symposium, the participants saw eye to eye with each other about continuing research that is able to assist the industry while actively communuicating with people on site.
On July 18-19, President CHOI, Yong-seok of NIFS visited the fish farms in Goheung and Yeosu of Jeollanam-do for the site inspection in order to preemptively brace for high water temperature. The President also met with the persons involved, hearing difficulties from them on his site visit to fish farms within the regions.

To celebrate the designation, an international workshop with a ceremony was held at Sejong Convention Center on July 4 with the presence of distinguished guests from in and out of the country.
On June 21, Minister Kang Do-Hyung of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries visited NIFS headquarters, hearing reports on the current status of research and projects. The Minister also visitied the situation room for disaster response and eel aquaculture building, to inspect the research sites and encourage researchers.
On June 5th, the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) signed the MOU on sustainable marine environment management, and agreed on joint research and cooperation, exchanges of researchers, etc.
NIFS had succeeded in seafood commercialization: grilled fish without fishy smell. It is the fruit of continuous cooperation between NIFS and Pulmuone Institute of Technology after the two institutes signing the MOU last year.
On May 22, NIFS had the 2024 online and offline workshop for all members at its headquarters to strengthen research capacity and organisational vitality.
