NIFS announced that it and LG H&H Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as LG H&H) developed and launched the probiotics effective in improving intestinal health jointly by isolating the new two types of lactic acid bacteria from fisheries products.

* Probiotics are living microorganisms that boost human health when consumed in adequate amounts.

The newly identified, edible two types of lactic acid bacteria are Lactococcus sp. and Weissella sp., which are confirmed to increase the activity of immunity indicator when used in mixed: eight times and around three times more increased activity of TNF-α and IFN-γ, respectively, which can play a key role in activation of cellular immunity and subsequently, stimulation of antitumor immune-response.

NIFS verified the industrial application of the two types of lactic acid bacteria through various research on genetic information-based safety assessment, optimal culture conditions, biochemical property analysis, etc.

NIFS and LG H&H applied for a patent jointly for the verification, presenting a probiotics product good for intestinal health by establishing industrialization technology based on the patented technology : Lactococcus sp. and Weissella sp. having immune enhancing activity and uses thereof (Patent Application No.1020230017812).
