NIFS announced that it published the “Handbook of Top 100 Fisheries Products” covering a range of information and data on 116 major fisheries products. The Handbook was written to help the people understand and utilize easily the information covering from ecological characteristics of marine fish(51 species), inland fish(15 species), cephalopoda(6 species), crustacea(8 species), shellfish(19 species), seaweed(9 species), and other aquatic animals(8 species), etc. to the origin of species name and nutrients, as well as the current status of production, import/export, processing, and distribution, etc. Above all, the Handbook this time is very meaningful as it was published in ten years since 2014. It consists of three books and covers not only fisheries products that draw much interest from the public, but also changes in fish species under the impact of climate change. *The Handbook of Top 100 Fisheries Products had already been published in 2013 and 2014 with four(marine fish 3/inland water fish 1) and three(shellfish 1/seaweed 1/cephalopoda 1) books respectively. For easy access to and utilization of the information, NIFS is going to distribute the Handbook to the relevant organizations and provide it via its official webpage (www.nifs.go.kr). Since 2012, in addition, NIFS has operated the division responsible for the Top 100 Fisheries Products up-to-date, so that it can provide the people with the correct information and data on specific species promptly. |
