The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) announced that it made and is going to distribute the 『General Fishing Gear and Method of Korea』, a poster presenting the representative 24 fisheries in Korea. 

In the poster are the operations of principle fisheries such as pair trawl, midwater trawl, and pots well described, which are easy to grasp.

Some of the illustrations are, particularly, describing fishing gear used in underwater, helping the people to understand easily the process of collecting fisheries products. 

Made in 23 years since 2002, the poster is expected to heighten the people's understanding of fisheries operation and to serve as a useful reference material for researchers and person responsible for policies relevant. 

NIFS made the poster by selecting the representative 24 fisheries from the Fishing Gear of Korea 2024, organized and published by NIFS based on the data on 347 types of fishing gear and method obtained from its 3-year field survey.

The poster 『General Fishing Gear and Method of Korea』 is going to be distributed to fishery-related government agencies, research institutes, universities, etc., and be also uploaded on the website of NIFS. 

Mr. CHOI, Yong-seok, the president of NIFS, said, "The poster aims to intrigue people's much interest in Korean fisheries by presenting them in illustrations easy to understand". He also said, "I expect that the poster would become a very useful and beneficial information not only for the people but also for fishermen and stakeholders."
