To promote the use of formulated feeds, NIFS established a ‘platform for formulated feeds support program’, operating the platform to provide information on suppliers and the quality of feeds.

*Formulated feeds support program includes the Direct Payment System to support ecofriendly fishery products and national subsidy to culture farms for the purchase of formulated feeds. 

In the past, the suppliers had to deal with the hassle in applying for the subsidy program because of the administrative procedure requiring to submit the forms every year. As for fishermen, they experienced difficulties to choose the best feeds as there were no ways to see and compare the information on quality of feeds by fish species or by manufacturer. 

To address the problems, the Aquafeed Research Center of NIFS operates the platform (https://www.nifs.go.kr/portal/ar/mixfD/actionMixfMain.do), where the suppliers can easily apply for the program with no need to submit the forms every year. Fishermen can also choose the best feeds by utilizing the provided information on 270 suppliers and 420 formulated feeds including nutritional components, the size of feeds, etc. 

The president of NIFS, Mr. Choi Yong-seok said, “This year, NIFS will advance the platform to allow mobile access for a better convenience to use and the expanded adoption of formulated feeds.”
