On August 25, NIFS signed MOU with Research Institute of Oceanography (RIO), an affiliated research center of the College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University, hosting a joint-symposium on the theme of research direction for addressing climate change and current issues in oceans and fisheries.

NIFS held a communication forum with heads of seven local aqauculture cooperatives at Jeonnam local headquarters on August 17th to share the current issues. It also had an on-site explanation for the safety of Korean seafood.

The President of Vanuatu Nikenike Vurobaravu visited NIFS on August 4, 2023, and discussed mutual cooperation for the development of oceans and fisheries in Vanuatu. The visit by Vanuatuan President came after the request of the government of Vanuatu, showing great interest in fishereis science & tehcnology, and international cooperation. NIFS President WOO, Dong-sik said, "I expect our accumulated experiences and technologies can contribute to the development of fisheries industry in Vanuatu." At the same time, he kindly asked the President of Vanuatu for his support to the 2030 Busan World Expo.

To promote the safety of Korean seafood, on July 11 in Tongyeong, NIFS had a on-site explanation with union leaders from eight districts and industries, including Suhyup(the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives). In addition, it had an event for people to taste Korean seafood such as rockfish, oyster, sea squirt, etc.

From June 26-28, the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) co-hosted the "Regional Workshop for WOAH National Focal Points on Aquatic Animals" and had discussions about international cooperation through capacity building for disease control of each country.

On June 22, following last year, NIFS had a discussion under the name of "Upending viewpoints, then fisheries research changes", and talked about the current issues for sustainable shrimp farming with experts in and outside the institute.

The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) had a joint workshop for the comprehensive assessment of the impact that the results of R&Ds on olive flounder have had on the industry, and agreed to seek more effective and strategic measures.

The ministers, vice-ministers, members of the government, and personnel involved ,who had attended the "2023 Korea-Pacific Islands Summit", visited NIFS on May 31 to talk about the mutual cooperation and looked around the research facilities of NIFS.

The president of NIFS WOO, Dong-sik attended the "Korea International Cooperation Conference on Oceans and Fisheries (KICCOF 2023)" on May 30, subject to the leaders attending "2023 Korea-Pacific Islands Summit", and gave his presentation on Korea's experience and its innovative technology in fisheries science for co-prosperity.

For two days of May 22nd and 23rd, the president of NIFS conducted on-site inspections of fisheries resources research on board Tamgu 22 (NIFS Fisheries Research Vessel), and had a time to discuss the future direction of NIFS's research.
