NIFS provided a field briefing and a demonstration on an environmentally-friendly carcass disposal system, in Hadong-gun, South Kyungsang Province on June 27, with the participation of 100 people from local governments, fisheries agencies and fishing communities.

NIFS was awarded an appreciation plaque from the president of Inland Israeli Carp Aquaculture Association, in acknowledgement of its contribution to distribution of broodstocks and development of processing technology through intensive research activities.

NIFS provided an opportunity to people to experience “sensuous shrimp fishing” during the Government 3.0 Exhibition held at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul from June 19 to 22.  

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the headquarters of NIFS, held the press conference on June 21, to celebrate that Korea has become the second country in the world that has succeeded in complete artificial control of the lifecycle of eel (Anguilla Japonica).

Invited by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Maritime of Algeria, President of NIFS attended the opening ceremony of the Korea-Algeria Fisheries Science Cooperation Center on June 1, 2016. The two nations discussed how to further strengthen cooperation motivated by the success in shrimp culture in the Sahara Desert.

In the evaluation the Ministry of Interior performed for executive agencies on June 2, NIFS received ‘S’ which is the first-class grade.

NIFS held a Forum on Climate Change and Big Data at BEXCO on June 8. Experts from different fields made presentations and had panel discussions on the topic.

Marking the 21^st Ocean Day, about 160 members of NIFS joined the beach cleaning campaign at the Songjeong Beach on May 31.

FAO senior officials who had attended the 7^th World Fisheries Congress (held in Busan,Korea) visited NIFS and had a meeting with president.
