Participants including key speakers of the 2015 WorldOcean Forum visited the NIFS to learn about the roles and responsibilities ofthe institute. 

TheNIFS hosted a meeting to develop sea cucumber industry in Yeosu on October 6.Participants discussed challenges, and provided numbers of valuable opinions toaddress the issues and promote the industry.   

Presidentof NIFS visited the South Sea Fisheries Research Institute on October 5 andpaid attention to the voices from fields.

NIFS signed a Letter of Agreement with the Ministry of Livestock,Fisheries and Rural Development of Myanmar to cooperate in the fields ofaquaculture technology, fisheries sciences and ODA projects.   

The NIFS held the 11^th President’s Cup Marathon on Gawangan Bridge on October 4, with the participation of 100 members of the institute.

The vice chancellor and senior administrative officers of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) visited the NFRDI on October 1 and had a talk about a project to establish a School of Fisheries Sciences in SINU and nurture experts in the sector.

Professor Kagawa Hirohiko from University of Miyazaki, Japan, visited the NFRDI and shared Japan’sresearch achievements and future research plans for Japanese eel. The NFRDI will continue to work with him for researches about Anguilla Japonica.  

Celebrating the Chuseok (Korean version of Thanksgiving) holiday, the NFRDI visited social welfare centers and delivered gifts including fishery products. 15 local offices of the NFRDI also cared for people in need.

The NFRDI signed a MOU with the Korea Institute of Marine Science and Technology Promotion on September 18, to further develop national marine and fisheries science technologies.

The NFRDI held an Advisory Group Meeting in Response to FTA on September 2, to discuss Fisheries R & D in line with global market expansion.
