Vice president of NFRDI, Mr. Kim Young Seop welcomed the director of programs and strategy of IFREMER(French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea), Mr. Maurice Herel to NFRDI. They discussed on future cooperation activities and agreed to resume the MOU which had lasted from 1993 to 1997.
Fisheries scientists and economists from ASEAN countries(Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) and Korea gathered in Busan, Korea to establish the ASEAN-ROK network on climate change adaptation on aquaculture. At the workshop, the experts pledged to make their utmost efforts to develop a network to jointly respond and adapt the climate chage impacts on the aquaculture sector.
The secretariat of the 15th ICHA(International Conference on Harmful Algae) opens at NFRDI, Busan, South Korea on July 22, 2010. The 15th ICHA, which will be held in the city of Changwon of South Gyeongsang province of South Korea in 2012 will be co-hosted and supported by NFRDI and the government of Changwon.

NFRDI and the Department of Fisheries, Sabah, Malaysia met in Busan, Korea on April 15 to talk on research cooperation for fisheries science. Scientists from the two organizations had in-depth discussions on cooperation on fish aquaculture, seaweeds, aritificial reefs, redtide, etc.
The Coldwater Fish Research Center, NFRDI threw on 25 March, 2010 in the city of Yangyang of East Sea, South Korea, a salmon seed release event where a total of 10 million salmon seeds including 600 eyed eggs with chemical tags in otolith were set free. In that event, senior government officers of fisheries, head of Yangyang city government, local residents and about 200 young children took part in.
