The National Insitute of Fisheries Science is the unique national research institute in charge of marine and fisheries science. We are committed to fulfilling various responsibilities such as developing overseas and coastal fishing grounds, monitoring marine ecosys-tems, building and managing fisheries resources, and developing aquaculture technology.

To cope with the facing challenges including global pressure to further open Korean market, climate change and depletion of fisheries resources, we are implementing a variety of tasks pertinent to the national fisheries policies such as developing the strategic items for export and ensuring seafood safety.

This website provides information on the major research activities of our institute. On the other hand, we are ready to hear your valuable opinions and suggestions.

We will pursue the overall goals of our institute through an open dialogue with the people and wish to communicate with alll stakeholders to benefit the fisheries industry.
